The exhibition Circular Forces at Galleri CC takes its point of departure from an exchange between artist-run galleries in Malmö and Dalsland. Earlier this summer, works by members of Galleri CC and Tessoar, both located on Båstadsgatan in Malmö, travelled to Not Quite in Fengersfors, where they were presented in the group exhibition Strength in Numbers.

What began as an exchange between artist-run spaces became a meeting between practices, people, and experiences. By moving between different contexts, familiar structures are disrupted and new relationships can emerge. The journey between Malmö and Fengersfors created space for conversations, community, and new impulses — a reminder of the force that emerges when people work together.

On Båstadsgatan in Malmö, artist-run exhibition spaces have gradually developed since 2015. Here, artistic practices have encountered audiences, while artists themselves create and maintain the structures that make these encounters possible. Running an artist-run gallery means constantly moving between one’s own artistic practice and the work of creating space for the voices and practices of others.

Circular Forces explores these movements: how works, people, and ideas circulate between places and contexts.
Returning from Fengersfors, the works now presented at Galleri CC encounter a new space and a new constellation. Some works return, while others have been transformed, replaced, or newly added.

The exhibition is therefore not a reconstruction of Strength in Numbers, but a reactivation of the same encounter between artists.

The title Circular Forces builds upon the idea of collective strength, Strength in Numbers while directing attention towards the forces set in motion through artist-run networks: the circulation of works, experiences, care, and labour that keep artist-run spaces alive.

Artist Bio

Josefin Bergman investigates materials and their boundaries. With a strong focus on spatiality, place and cultural history. 
In her work, she is interested in how art can reflect, influence and interact with the environments in which it is located, and how the physical and cultural layers of a place can be activated through artistic processes.
Josefin Bergman, born in 1985, graduated from the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. She has since exhibited in several group exhibitions at, among others, Färgfabriken in Stockholm, Malmö Konsthall and Bildmuseet in Umeå.

Arngrímur Borgþórsson graduated with a BFA from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and an MFA from Umeå Art Academy. His work with diverse media often focuses on the complex systems used for interaction between humans and technology, and the questions and problems which these interactions provoke. Arngrímur has exhibited at various exhibitions spaces, galleries, festivals and museums in Iceland and Sweden as well as institutions such as Peri photographic center in Turku, Finland, the Reykjavík art museum, Bildmuseet in Umeå and Malmö konsthall in Sweden. He lives and works in Malmö.

Adrian Espinos Ferreros artistic practice is grounded in nature’s changeable processes and repeating patterns. This interest is manifested in both painting and sculpture, where the work grows and expands organically in close dialogue with geology and biology. Espinos got his MFA from Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in 2019 and is represented by Sala Parés in Barcelona. His work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions around Europe and at international art fairs in Madrid, Barcelona and Stockholm.

Maja Gade (b. 1982 in Copenhagen) live and work in Copenhagen and Malmö. She graduated from Jutland Academy for Fine Arts in 2009. She works with landscapes and it’s materiality. It often takes the form of an investigation of a specific place, where she uses materials found on-site and in the surrounding landscape. In several of her works, she uses nature materials such as plants, soil and stones. She works with various media, producing graphic works, paintings and sculptural objects.

Richard Krantz (b.1989, Götene, Sweden) works with linguistic quirks and everyday paradoxes. 
He collects texts and objects that he rearranges and reshapes until the artwork gets its final form. The artworks appear different and Krantz works both with industrial methods and slow methodic studio work,as well as performative actions.
He frequently takes on the subject of childhood, humour and existential thoughts. He graduated from The Glasgow School of Art and Konstfack.

Johan Lundin works with performance and installations and has staged and constructed different fictional travel agencies, a staged zoo and a spa.
The fictional and the constructed are a constant presence in Johan Lundin’s work, as well as comparisons between different types of everyday roles.

Ariadna Mangrané mainly works with sculpture and installation, although painting informs much of her thinking and influences many aspects of her process. 
Her artistic language is driven by material exploration, bringing physical, sensorial, and symbolic qualities to the foreground. She is interested in examining how the sensory qualities of our surroundings shape our bodily experience. Materials move freely between the object, its meaning, and its translation into an image, and back again, playing with the limits of representation.
Ariadna Mangrané (b. 1986, Spain) is a visual artist educated at the Royal Institute of Art (SE), Novia University of Applied Sciences (FI), Umeå University (SE), Aalto University (FI), and the University of Barcelona (ES).

Bahareh Mirhadinezhadfard is a visual artist (b.1985 in Shiraz, Iran) living and working in Malmö. In her practice, sound, image, and video interact through an exploratory impulse centered on social relationships and contexts. Notions of control both structural and spiritual and encounters with the unfamiliar are central to her practice. Processes of estrangement: forgetting, losing touch with one’s mother tongue and where language is formed is an attempt to make visible that which can disappear. Her work is documentary in nature and is strongly influenced by her relocation to Sweden.
Mirhadinezhadfard received her bachelor’s degree in painting at Bahonar University in Kerman, Iran and continued at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, earning her Masters degree.

Maria Norrman is a visual artist who works with video and photography in combination with performance and costume making. Norrman often uses herself and different characters in her work which allows her to put her appearance and gender expressions in relation to the participants.
The works explore the meeting between hers and other people’s fantasies and topics such as war history, gender and sexuality. Her methods often consist of different types of role play, where body, clothing and identities are central starting points.
Norrman often works with long term projects such as her drag persona Millennium Star, which was created in 2012, and her 20+ years ongoing obsessive relation to French dancer Jane Avril (1868-1943.)
Norrman was born in 1987 and received her MFA from Malmö Art Academy in 2013. She lives and works in Oslo, Norway.

Elin Olsson (b. 1998, Stockholm) draws inspiration from vulnerability and tragedy. She mainly works with clay and ceramic sculptures, where organic forms come to life. 
Olsson investigates through sculpture how pain can become living and powerful, where the fragile is allowed to exist and be celebrated. Through the clay’s animated character and darkness of history, a symbiosis is created and given a voice that can not be expressed with words.

Ludwig Darle Olsson
What kind of world do we live in? Why do we build what we do? How does it change us and how do we change it? 
The investigation of this interaction is a central part of Ludwig Darle Olsson's (b. 1996, Gothenburg) work. Through sculpture and painting, he investigates what is real, what is staged, and whether it ever really mattered.

Linnéa Ponnerts (b. 1999, Maglehem) work moves among the sensations of the fuzzy contours of memory, often through wood and oil membranes that manifest as scenes or implements in the room. Her work is a hunt for evidence that sink to the bottom again as soon as they appear. It is a waiting room between reality and theater, a lantern seeking substance in dimensions where time is no longer present. What does truth look like, and to whom should the prayer be sent?

Klara Josefin Rosenlund (born 1991) is a Swedish artist based in Malmö. She holds an MFA from the Oslo Art Academy and a BFA from The Art Academy of Bergen. 
She works with sculpture and installation in material such as steel and mechanical constructions. Organic and industrial forms meet in her work, often in the condition of tension, power and vulnerability, and how material can carry traces of resistance and change.

Sofia Wickman (SE) is an artist, curator and creative producer based between Malmö and Copenhagen. Her work spans photography, video, light and installation, often taking the form of atmospheric spatial interventions. Through layered imagery and the use of light and colour as artistic materials, she investigates perception, presence and transformation.

Wickman's work has been exhibited internationally in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, including at Eye Filmmuseum (NL), Schimmel Projects – Art Centre Dresden (DE), Udstillingsstedet Sydhavn Station (DK) and Supermarket Art Fair (SE). Her upcoming solo exhibition at Galleri Box (SE) opens in September 2026.
Wickman holds a BA in Audiovisual Media from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (2012), including studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Since 2015, she has been a member and curator at Galleri CC in Malmö.

Fredrik Zanichelli (b. 1995, Malmö) expands architecture beyond the realm of physical construction. With a poetic eye, he explores both the concrete spaces that shape our reality and the abstract spatialities we create and continually transform. Installation and sculpture are Zanichelli's primary media, and with a strong affinity for materiality, he often works with traditional building materials. Attentive to the materials' inherent agency, he allows their interplay with human intervention to reveal traces of dreams, longing for the past, and visions of utopia.
