After harbouring a feeling, for quite some time, of whitnessing the slow death of Art and with the help of Education through Art, Nordin tries to rephrase the meaning of art, for herself and for the world.
Education through Art, written by Herbert Read, was first published 1943. It works as a sort of handbook on how to democratically foster the citizens by inspiring them to make art. Herbert Read was an anarchist and his texts derives from the modernist idea to use art as a liberating force for mankind. The aim and objective - a democratic revolution.
Magdalena Nordin, b. 1980. Lives outside Gävle. Was awarded an artist work grant from the Swedish Arts Councils in 2010. Was assigned the Savings Bank Foundation Norrland 's scholarship in 2016. Did her masters at Konstfack 2009. She has showed at Kalmar Art museum, Verkligheten in Umeå, Växjö Art Gallery/Italienska palatset, Skellefteå Art Gallery, Luleå Art Gallery and more.
