Location can be a place in space, a specific geographical place where you can or cannot be. Depending on arrival you can find yourself at right place at the right time, or the wrong place at the wrong time. Time and space are connected by events, experiences and memory. You can find histories, recounts and misunderstandings.
Stories create identity, identification and affiliation. A place can be a mental location, a state of mind, a veil through which you perceive reality. A state of mind where you are not present, yet enclosed in your ordinary thought patterns. It can be the feeling of not belonging, of being out of place.
A location describes not only a place or position, but also that which it is not.
To exist, a location needs limits and borders, thereby defining itself in opposition of what lies beyond. Location Fuck Me is a group exhibition by Malmö-based artists from Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. The exhibition questions where we are located historically, personally and politically; What is a location and why do we feel utterly “fucked"?
