The FYRTIO exhibition is a continuation of the 100 exhibition from 2019 where a hundred artists were invited to exhibit in our space. This time we have chosen to invite 40 artists, to create a more concentrated sampling of artists and artworks.

Performance: 𝑶𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒆𝒔: 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 | Sall Lam Toro

As part of the group exhibition 'FYRTIO', artist Sall Lam Toro performs the live meditation 'Ode to my heroes: Second Homecoming' at Galleri CC.

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤:
“Exhale and come home to being held by your wisdom texts”, Lama Rod writes in the “Love and Rage”, a book I received for my 32nd birthday from my faggot housing collective.
I invite you to meditate with me. I also invite your wisdom texts into the space (sayings, prayers, books, memes, excerpts of film, dance, teachings, affirmations, music, text messages, etc.) that bring you grounding (of your nervous system), clarity, love, excitement, revolution, support, liberation, awakening, and openness. You may even bring it with you into the space to help you meditate.
But first, a conversation. A conversation that sometimes erupts into song or whisper, or even, audio-visual memories of what has been part of making and has transformed my practice deeply.
We will close the meditation circle by collectiving a second homecoming practice.

𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 '𝐎𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬: 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠'
'Ode to my heroes: second homecoming' is a live performative meditation with the public regarding meditative practices with texts that have been influential to Sall Lam Toro’s work concerning their own practice. Inspired by Lama Rod Owens’ “Love and Rage: the path of liberation through anger” teachings, the author conceptualises a practice, that of the “second homecoming” which means, evoking the presence of being “encircled” by wisdom texts. Owens’ second homecoming concept (out of seven homecomings practice of meditation) focuses on inviting these texts into space yet also making the exercise of imagining oneself held dearly by these forms of wisdom, gift and guiding.
Sall will make a collage of text, sound and images in a format of an audiovisual mediation guide remixing some of their own wisdom texts and also inviting those of the audience into the space creating a collective “second homecoming” practice.

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐨
Sall (they/them/hir)) is a black queer unbinary trans multimedia interdisciplinary performance artist and organiser. Their work focuses on sensuous, poetic, decolonial and queer activations, and ruptures in time and space. Themes such as grief, transformation and new reencounters with/of the senses informs their work heavily through the practices of Butoh dance theater, afrofuturism, and abolitionism. They venture in experimental music production, dance improvisational and semi-choreographed works, textual-base performance, live and video performative acts. Their interactive works indulge within meta-universes of meaning, body and spirit erupting shifting transcendental states within the body of the viewer/participant attempting to defy capitalist modes of operating and sensing.
